Collaboration, Equity, and Empowerment

The CEC puts tribal knowledge and priorities at the center. Through deep partnership, youth education, and local leadership, we ensure that environmental science serves the people most impacted by coastal health threats.

Community Voices Panel

This panel includes local leaders and community members who assess program effectiveness, co-design outreach, and advise on priorities. Their input ensures all activities are relevant, respectful, and community guided.

K–12 & Youth Education

CEC creates consistent, culturally relevant curriculum that covers harmful algal blooms, shellfish safety, and 3 environmental justice. Programs serve students across rural Alaska, especially those with limited access to traditional health education.

Educational Workshops & Training

We run hands-on sessions with Tribal Environmental staff, Village Public Safety Officers, and community health workers to build local capacity in toxin monitoring, sampling, and communication.
